Code of Conduct
The Swiss Pain Society values its partnerships with commercial organizations, which are crucial for supporting the Society’s educational initiatives. These organizations also gain several benefits from their association with the SPS and are eager to showcase their connection to the Society to healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the general public. The SPS has successfully collaborated with commercial organizations on several projects, which have been thoroughly reviewed by the Council, who have defined the Society’s role in each case. These discussions ensure that the SPS is not perceived as endorsing specific pharmaceutical or other products. Individual committee members may be approached by commercial organizations to participate in educational activities, but it is important to recognize that this connection could potentially be exploited by organizations seeking the Society’s endorsement.
The Society has provided its committee member with guidance on codes of conduct for interacting with commercial companies. These guidelines also apply to the Society’s general members.
Committee members and members of the Society should not claim to represent the views of the Swiss Pain Society when:
- Speaking at pharmaceutical company-sponsored events on topics related to specific products or devices.
- Making editorial contributions or influencing content in pharmaceutical company-sponsored journals.
- Commenting on products and commercial services in the national press.
- Endorsing pharmaceutical publications.
Any media representation on behalf of the Swiss Pain Society is carried out by a committee member of the Society or a nominated individual appointed by a committee member.
